Administration

The administrative head of the municipal government is the City Administrator.   All of the administrative officials are appointed by the City Commission.

City Administrator - Doug Allen

Doug Allen was born and raised in Sabetha and graduated from Sabetha schools. He attended Missouri Western College on a football scholarship and graduated in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration.

Doug served as Assistant City Administrator from 1990-1998, then accepted the role of City Administrator in August of 1998. Doug holds a Class IV Wastewater License and a Class III Water License through KDHE, and was named Kansas Rural City Administrator of the Year in 2009.

Doug married Amy Kellenberger of Sabetha in 1984. They have three daughters and one son.

Assistant City Administrator - Bill Shroyer

Bill Shroyer was born and raised in Sabetha and graduated from Sabetha High School in 1975. Bill was first hired by the City of Sabetha in 1983 as a General Laborer and was eventually Supervisor of the Streets/Water/Wastewater/Parks departments. During this employment, Bill completed education and testing requirements for a Kansas Department of Health and Environment Class III water operator license and a Class IV wastewater operator license, which he still maintains. In 1994, Bill went to work for Kansas Rural Water Association as Wastewater Circuit Rider. In 1999, he accepted the position of Assistant City Administrator for the City of Sabetha. This position, under the direction of the City Administrator, is in charge of all employees and departments within the City of Sabetha.

Bill has three sons: Jason, Mark, and Matt and five grandchildren.

City Clerk - Steve Compo

Steve Compo was appointed City Clerk in July of 2008. Since being hired by the City of Sabetha in 1998, he has served as Apprentice Lineman in the Electrical Distribution Department and the Director of the Parks and Recreation Department. 

Steve is a member of the Kansas Municipal Clerks Association and is working towards Certified Municipal Clerk designation. As well as the State level involvement, Steve has been very active locally and was awarded the distinguished Kiwanis Club President award in 1993-94. 

He is married and has 3 sons and 2 daughters.
