Mary Cotton Public Library

The Mary Cotton Public Library is a Service Level II Public Library that sits on the north side of the Library Park. A member of the Northeast Kansas Library System, it participates in the 50 member KOHA online circulation system & NEXPress courier system for interlibrary loans. MCPL’s 28,000 items are available online to cardholders of all of these libraries and staff send nearly 1000 interlibrary loans per month. Peak circulation comes during the Summer Reading Program when over 7000 items are loaned each month during June and July. MCPL carries daily issues of the Topeka Capital Journal, St. Joseph News Press and Wall Street Journal in addition to the weekly Sabetha Herald, Seneca Tribune, Falls City Journal, and Hiawatha World plus numerous popular magazines and Large Print Reader’s Digest. A complete remodeling job in 2009 allows easy access to ADA compliant restrooms, and elevator access to the second floor children’s library and community meeting room.  Twelve public computers provide free access to the internet and WiFi hotspots are available throughout the building.
